OH: Lorain County Transit launches survey to improve workforce transportation
To support local employers and workers, Lorain County Transit is launching a countywide employer survey focused on workforce transportation needs.
The Lorain County Workforce Transportation Survey for Employers will help Lorain County Transit understand how transportation affects hiring, attendance and retention, particularly for second, third and early-morning shifts, according to a news release.
The survey takes about five to 10 minutes to complete and asks employers to share information about their workforce, shift schedules and transportation-related challenges, according to the release.
Responses will guide recommendations for more effective workforce transportation options in Lorain County, the release said.
Employers are asked about topics such as:
- The size and type of their workforce and shift schedules
- How many employees rely on public transportation
- Transportation-related issues such as absenteeism, tardiness or turnover
- Current transportation-related benefits or incentives for employees
- Interest in partnering on transit solutions or pilot projects
“Employers have been clear that transportation can make or break someone’s ability to get to work, especially for early and overnight shifts,” said Shannon Hite, transit specialist for Lorain County Transit, in the release. “This survey gives us a grounded look at what is happening day to day, from the employer’s point of view.
The results will help us shape practical solutions that better support Lorain County’s workforce.”
Lorain County employers of all sizes and industries are encouraged to complete the survey at surveymonkey.com/r/lcwork.
