This winter, Proterra completed a hill climb test on the steepest mountain highways of Utah. Proterra drove a 40-foot battery-electric bus from the Salt Lake Valley up to the major ski resorts that are currently served by fossil-fueled buses.

With 2X the horsepower and acceleration and 5X the efficiency of a standard diesel engine, the new DuoPower electric drivetrain delivers a smooth ride and sustained highway speeds on the steepest hills.

The Proterra bus delighted communities with its quiet, zero-emission performance as it climbed the steep snowy mountains, passing other heavy-duty vehicles in its path.

The test was completed in partnership with Utah Transit Authority and Park City, and with the support of Protect Our Winters and Ski Utah.
