This Valentine’s Day, the Greater Dayton RTA will celebrate “Ohio Loves Transit Day” along with public transit agencies from across Ohio with free rides on all fixed routes for RTA riders who use the RideTime texting feature. A rider simply needs to flash their text message showing their bus arrival time to their driver to receive a free ride on Feb. 14.
The Ohio Public Transit Association is hosting “Ohio Loves Transit Day” across the state to celebrate public transit and how it helps to move Ohio forward.
The RideTime text feature allows RTA riders to text their stop number (found at the bottom of their stop sign) to 41411 for a quick answer on when the next bus is to arrive at their stop. On Wednesday, Feb. 14, riders who use this feature on that day can flash their text message to their bus driver and the driver will give them a free ride (see example of text to the left.) The RTA has a detailed step-by-step guide on how to text your stop on our website at www.iriderta.org/ridetime/track-by-text.
For riders who use a pass, from Feb. 1 through Feb. 14 customers who flash their text feature to an employee at an RTA transit center sales outlet (Wright Stop Plaza and Northwest Transit Center) will receive a free Day Pass with the purchase of any Monthly Pass (31-Day Pass).
More than 3 million Ohioans rely daily on public transportation for safe, affordable and reliable transportation services. Public transit allows mobility independence for veterans, seniors, people with disabilities, commuters, and students. Employers rely on public transit as it provides safe, reliable, and affordable transportation to job sites to ensure that thousands of individuals have access to work.
Every dollar invested in public transit agencies by state or federal government generates four dollars in Ohio’s economy.
