GRTC Remains on Snow Routes Friday

Jan. 4, 2018
The Greater Richmond Transit Company will continue to operate on Snow Routes through Friday.

The Greater Richmond Transit Company will continue to operate on Snow Routes through Friday. Road conditions, despite treatment on main roads, are hazardous on some of GRTC’s routes that travel on secondary and neighborhood streets. Customers should prepare for bus delays and potential detours in addition to Snow Routes.

Snow routes avoid hazardous streets around the system that are challenging to navigate in inclement Winter Weather. Buses will display an alert message on the electronic exterior signs, saying, “SNOW ROUTES IN EFFECT,” to notify customers immediately that buses are on snow routes. During reduced service, paratransit medical appointments will receive priority transportation ensuring customers can safely reach doctors, hospitals or dialysis centers. On Friday, CARE will operate limited service (dialysis trips only) from 5 AM to 7 AM. Full CARE service will resume at 7 AM. CARE On-Demand will continue to operate regular service.

Once buses go onto snow routes, they will remain on snow routes through the end of the day.
