Active Military and Veterans Ride Free on RTC on Veterans Day Nov. 11

The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada will offer active military service members and veterans complimentary rides on Veterans Day.

The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada will offer active military service members and veterans complimentary rides on Veterans Day Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017.

Those who have served, or currently serving the nation in the U.S. armed forces may ride free on any RTC fixed-route service from 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11. To ride, service members simply need to present the driver with their military or veterans identification card from any state when boarding.

In addition to free rides on Veterans Day, the RTC offers several year-round services for local veterans and military service members:

Veterans Reduced Fare Program:

The Veterans Reduced Fare program provides a 50-percent discount on full-fare pricing for all RTC fixed-route buses, improving access to public transportation valley wide. To participate in the program, local veterans must apply for an RTC-issued veterans reduced fare ID card.

Fixed-Route Transportation to Medical Care:

The RTC fixed-route system offers many options for veterans and military service members to travel to hospitals and Veterans Administration (VA) clinics.

  • The Downtown & Veterans Medical Center Express (DVX) takes passengers from the RTC’s downtown Bonneville Transit Center hub to the front door of the Veterans Medical Center in North Las Vegas.
  • Route 113 – Las Vegas Boulevard North ends at O’Callaghan Federal Medical Center across from Nellis Air Force Base.
  • Several VA Primary Care Clinics can be accessed from a number of routes, including those at Rancho and Alexander (Routes 102 and 106); Charleston and Lamb (Routes 206 and 203); Warm Springs and Buffalo (Route 212); and Boulder Highway between College Drive and Racetrack (Boulder Highway Express and Henderson & Downtown Express).
