The Orange County Transportation Authority is teaming up with the city of Laguna Beach again this summer to offer free bus rides from a conveniently located parking lot near the interchange of the I-405 and SR-133 freeways to popular destinations in Laguna Beach.
The Laguna Beach Summer Breeze bus service returns on Saturday, July 1, and will run each Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to midnight through Sept. 3.
The bus service will run every 30 minutes from the parking lot just southwest of the I-405/SR-133 interchange, which offers free parking.
It will make stops at:
- Sawdust Art Festival
- Laguna Art-A-Fair
- Festival of the Arts
- Pageant of the Masters,
- Laguna Playhouse
- Laguna Beach Bus Station
From the Laguna Beach Bus Station, on Broadway Street just northeast of Pacific Coast Highway, riders can connect with the free Laguna Beach Trolley to popular destination along PCH.
The service kicked off on Saturday, July 1 with a family carnival sponsored by Laguna Beach from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Summer Breeze parking lot just southwest of the I-405/SR-133 interchange. It featured carnival games, face painting, refreshments and prizes, including two premiere seats to the Pageant of the Masters and gift certificates to local businesses and restaurants.
The Laguna Beach City Council approved funding the bus service to ease traffic congestion through Laguna Canyon Road and reduce the number of cars entering downtown.
The familiar blue-and-white OC Bus will serve the route through Laguna Canyon (Route 689), but will be marked with signs at the front of the buses indicating it is the Laguna Beach Summer Breeze bus.
