The Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority (LAVTA) has announced a partnership with ridesharing companies Uber, Lyft and DeSoto Cabs to offer the community of Dublin enhanced transportation options and greater flexibility — all available in a format that’s on demand and in real time.

With the Go Dublin promotion, LAVTA will pay for 50 percent of the fare, up to $5 per trip with participating transportation network companies. To be eligible for a discount, rideshare trips must both start and end within Dublin city limits, including both the East Dublin and West Dublin BART stations.

“Go Dublin is an innovative rideshare promotion that will provide a discount on trips taken on Uber and Lyft, as well as DeSoto Cabs within the city of Dublin,” said Dublin Mayor David Haubert. “It’s very easy to use and convenient. Customers simply select a participating transportation network company, download their phone app, enter the promo code GODUBLIN, select the uberPOOL, Lyft Line, or DeSoto Share option and then enter where they want to go. The car comes right to you and your driver knows exactly where to go.”

LAVTA Board Chairman Steven Spedowfski commented, “Our goal with the Go Dublin promotion is to increase transportation options in the Tri-Valley and make it easy to move between transportation network companies like Uber and Lyft and public transportation. Additionally, the Go Dublin promotion can be used to travel anywhere within Dublin. I think everyone can agree that having more travel options improves our quality of life.”

According to the transit agency’s executive director, Michael Tree, the Go Dublin promotion is valid through June 2017 or until funds are exhausted, whichever happens first. The Go Dublin promotion is one of the first of its kind in the United States where a public transit agency has partnered with both Uber and Lyft to promote discounted ridesharing to any location within a project area.
