The Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) will donate three retired 15-passenger RideShare vans to nonprofit organizations, community groups or government agencies within DART’s service area this fall. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on November 30, 2016. The annual van donation program began in 2014 to assist organizations and certain government agencies in providing transportation services to individuals who may not have access to public transportation.

“DART recognizes that there are unmet transit needs in our community. We hope that granting retired RideShare vanpool vehicles will help the mission of community-driven organizations by providing better transportation to the clients they support,” explained Steve Van Oort, DART commission chair.

The application, rules and requirements, and selection criteria for the program are available at http://www.ridedart.com/services/rideshare/resources under “Applications.” The Commission will consider the van donation recipients at its regularly scheduled January meeting.
