A local coach company is undergoing a special re-brand for the first time in its forty-eight year history – in honor of Her Majesty the Queen.
Gillingham-based The Kings Ferry is changing its name to ‘The Queens Ferry’ - in a unique tribute for the Queen’s landmark 90th birthday on Sunday, June 12.
In the run-up to the special occasion, the firm’s 40-strong commuter coach fleet will this week (Monday, June 6 – Sunday, June 12) bear the new name on its destination blinds, while the company’s website will also be changed.
The Kings Ferry coaches are a familiar sight throughout Kent, with 40 daily services from locations across the county to the heart of London, including Canary Wharf, Cannon Street and Westminster.
It is hoped therefore the firm’s ‘new-look’ will turn a few heads and bring a smile to the faces of people going to work as the whole nation gears up to celebrate the amazing milestone, with street parties expected across the land.
To celebrate the re-brand, driver Simon Martin was on-hand to unveil a specially-liveried new coach.
He said, “We’re really proud to do our bit in marking Her Majesty the Queen’s special birthday. I’m hoping the tribute will raise some smiles on the morning commute as the whole country gets in gear to celebrate”.
The Queens Ferry Managing Director Ian Fraser added, “All our drivers and staff join the nation in expressing our very warmest wishes for the Queen’s 90th birthday. June 12 is a monumental milestone in Her Majesty’s reign and we are thrilled to play our part in marking it”.
