Tahoe Transportation District Announces New Operations Manager
The Tahoe Transportation District (TTD) is pleased to announce that Tara Styer has been promoted to operations manager. Styer has been with TTD for three years and served as the mobility manager prior to this appointment.
"I’m excited to be in on the ground floor as public transit evolves in Lake Tahoe,” Styer said of the promotion. She will lead a team of incumbents transitioning from Keolis North America to TTD as the agency moves to directly operate transit beginning July 1, 2016.
On December 11, 2015, the TTD Board of Directors decided that TTD will directly operate transit rather than continuing to contract. The Board made this decision through a resolution and created a committee to work with staff in preparing for the transition. Internally, Styer participated in the transition preparations.
“Tara has brought a lot of value to the process and demonstrated her ability to excel. Her solutions-based approach and positive attitude serves as an example to others,” George Fink, Transit System program manager said.
Styer will oversee the transition of public transit in South Lake Tahoe away from the restrictive contract model to a more nimble and community responsive directly-operated system. Styer will be key in delivering the Board of Director’s mandate to:
- Better develop and direct the customer service culture
- Enhance fleet maintenance and appearance
- Be more responsive to community needs and development plans
- Implement facilities development and increase management oversight
- Increase resource development and develop a better public outreach interface
- Expand workforce development and regulatory education
