Via Adpots Budgets for FY2016

Sept. 23, 2015

The Board of Trustees for Via Metropolitan Transit and the Advanced Transportation District has approved the operating budgets for fiscal year 2015-16. These budgets total $213,310,308, and they will go into effect Oct. 1.

The primary objective of the new budget year is to improve services and amenities for Via’s customers. This commitment will be demonstrated through the opening of Centro Plaza, the implementation of more services, the provision of additional maintenance resources, and the introduction of new fare collection technologies including smartcards and mobile ticketing. With the FY2016 operating budget in place, VIA estimates it will provide 1.74 million hours of bus service, a 3.9 percent increase over FY2015.

“Via continues to do great things throughout our service area as a result of strategic utilization of the agency’s resources” said Via President/CEO Jeffrey C. Arndt. “We continue working to enhance the overall customer experience. We are proud to be the first large transit agency in the nation to provide system-wide, free 4G LTE Wi-Fi. We are making positive investments in the region’s public transit system now and into the future.”
