Ann Arbor DDA and getDowntown Launch 2nd Bike House

Aug. 14, 2015

Strong demand from companies such as Duo Security, Deepfield and Mighty Good Coffee prompted the DDA and the getDowntown Program to launch a second Bike House in downtown Ann Arbor at the Ann Ashley Parking Structure. The Ann Ashley Bike House is located in the Ann Ashley Parking Structure directly in front of the parking office. More information on the Ann Ashley Bike House can be found online.

An official ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of the Ann Ashley Bike House will take place on Aug. 27 from 8:30 a.m. -9:30 a.m.  The ribbon cutting and remarks will start at 9:30 a.m.

Scheduled to attend the ribbon cutting are DDA Executive Director Susan Pollay, DDA Board Member Keith Orr, Ann Arbor Mayor Christopher Taylor, Duo Security CEO Dug Song and Deepfield CFO/COO Lorne Groe and getDowntown Director Nancy Shore

Mighty Good Coffee will provide free coffee and breakfast foods and there will be other treats for those who attend. The ribbon cutting is free and open to the public.

Interest in the Bike House at Ann Ashley was so strong that both Duo Security and Deepfield pre-payed for spaces before the Bike House opened. Both companies are now enjoying the Bike House, along with employees from Thermo Fisher Scientific, Olark and WATS and more.

The Ann Arbor DDA provided the funding to construct the Ann Ashley Bike House as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting a range of transportation options downtown. In addition to funding the Ann Ashley Bike House, the Ann Arbor DDA provided funds to construct the first Bike House at the Maynard Parking Structure and annually provides funds to support the getDowntown Program, the go!pass, go!pass discounts on NightRide and ExpressRide, transit service that helps downtown employees to get to work and many other projects.

The Ann Ashley Bike Houses is a secure keycard access facility used by employees working in downtown Ann Arbor. Renters pay an annual or monthly fee to rent a space in the Bike House.  Any interested renter can get a free monthly trial before committing to a space. The Ann Arbor DDA installed both the Ann Ashley and the Maynard Bike Houses and they are managed by the getDowntown Program, who rents the Bike Houses to area employees and other interested users.
