STM Publishes Its Sustainability Report

This interactive report marks a first for the STM now publishes an integrated report covering the activity report, the financial report and balance sheet for sustainable development. It is also the first edition produced by the G4 requirements of the Global Reporting Initiative . To do this, the STM has consulted its internal and external stakeholders to ensure the relevance of sustainability issues covered in this report. More than 2,400 customers, 32 agencies and 260 employees participated in this exercise.

The STM also wishes to acknowledge the contribution of stakeholders in the implementation of its sustainable development and the quality of the 2014 Sustainability Report . Their mobilization is an essential key to success of the 2020 sustainable development plan .

Several awards in 2014

In addition to getting six awards for some of its projects, the STM has been recognized by the awarding of the prestigious Gold level recognition program "Sustainability Commitment" of the American Public Transportation Association (APTA). This is the only program of its kind in the world for the transit industry and this recognition confirms the role of STM leading.

Highlights in 2014

  • Increased paratransit trips by 7 percent to 3.5 million trips, exceeding the 2015 target
  • Responsible supply advanced with 73 percent of the value of contracts integrating SD criteria and 50 percent of acquisitions were made in Quebec.
  • Signing of the declaration of commitment to public purchase from collective enterprises and participation in Montreal pilot project Social economy, I buy.
  • Down 0.6 percent of our total GHG emissions per passenger-km, a result of increased traffic and optimize the bus service.
  • 26 percent reduction of the emission intensity of our small service vehicles since 2007 by replacing end of life with more energy efficient options.
  • Improved environmental management system with the introduction of 63 percent of the elements of ISO 14001.
  • Commissioning the Stinson bus garage designed a LEED Gold certification and consumes on average 60 oercent less energy per m2 than our other surface facilities.
  • Improved diversion rate from landfill our waste, from 60 to 66 percent.
  • Increase network of preferential measures for buses (MPB) by 28 percent to reach 208.7 km.
  • Holding awareness workshops on diversity in which more than 4,000 employees have participated since 2012.
