ABQ Ride Celebrates Bike to Work Day

Maybe you’ve never had the inclination to get out of the cocoon that is your car. But, if you could keep more money in your wallet or help the environment, or even get a new perspective of Albuquerque from between your bike’s handlebars, might you be encouraged to change? Perhaps even for one day?

You can accomplish all these things if you hop on your bike May 15, and use ABQ Ride at least part of the way to get to work. That’s one of the goals of National Bike to Work Day in Albuquerque and across the nation. Albuquerque Mayor Richard J. Berry and ABQ Ride Director Bruce Rizzieri are encouraging everyone to leave their cars at home and experience the money-saving and healthful benefits of biking and busing to work.

“We encourage you to try biking and busing to work on this one day, to see how easy it is to do,” Berry said. “I bet you’ll find doing it regularly will make a big difference in your wallet and your health.”

ABQ Ride will join Bike ABQ at four, different Albuquerque locations from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. on Friday, May 15. They’ll have information on how to bike and bus to work. They’ll also have lots of bike-related giveaways to help encourage people interested in biking and busing to work.  These locations are:
