The partner agencies in the Multimodal Corridor Enhancement (MCORE) Project will hold an open house on May 5, in Illini Union Ballroom C (1401 W Green St., Urbana).
The open house will be held between the hours of 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The purpose of the open house is to display the individual projects and gather public input on them. Members of the project and design teams will be on hand to answer questions. Although construction will not begin until Fall 2016, this open house is an important part of the design process. The Illini Union is accessible for persons with disabilities. Limited parking is available on-site.
MCORE, a partnership between the city of Champaign, city of Urbana, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and the Champaign Urbana Mass Transit District (MTD), will improve mobility in the communities’ core. The MCORE Project is funded in part by a $15.7 million Federal TIGER grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). This $35 million overall project will have a transformative impact unlike any previous transportation project in the communities’ history. This exciting new project will bring streets to a state of good repair while enhancing connections between the Cities’ downtown centers and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus.
