OSPT Alliance welcomed software development company, Medius as a full member.
Slovenia-based Medius is a specialist in the development, design, implementation and integration of information systems based on open source software. It focuses on solutions for a number of fields, including telecommunications, government, lottery and healthcare systems in Slovenia and the EU. As a full member, the company plans to develop a number of near field communication (NFC) solutions based on the CIPURSE open standard, to facilitate interoperability across systems.
“Medius has a strong background in open source development and we are always on the lookout for new and interesting technologies that are driving the ecosystem forward,” comments Viktor Brajak, COO, Medius. “We began researching and developing solutions for NFC and Java Card technology a few years ago and found ourselves looking into the transport market, which is where we came across CIPURSE. The standard stood out against others in the field and we believed it offered us the scope to develop and deliver a number of new solutions, particularly within mobile ticketing.”
Medius will participate in the recently established OSPT Alliance Host Card Emulation (HCE) Working Group. The group aims to analyze the functionality, security, availability and performance of HCE, along with the potential implications on their use in applications, within transport, ticketing and value added services.
“One of the biggest challenges in transit, and wider markets, is interoperability between available solutions,” Viktor continues. “We are looking forward to collaborating with similar like-minded companies within the alliance and helping to influence, shape and pilot open standards projects in HCE mobile ticketing to increase the presence of CIPURSE in the market.”
Laurent Cremer, executive director, OSPT Alliance adds, “OSPT Alliance is delighted to welcome Medius as a full member. Associations like ours rely on the knowledge and contributions of forward-thinking companies, like Medius, to expand and develop our offering to the marketplace. The company shares the OSPT Alliance philosophy that open standards are key to the future of the transport ecosystem and beyond and we are excited to see what this membership will bring to the alliance and to the HCE Working Group.”
