CATS and The Relatives Celebrate National Safe Place Week

March 18, 2015

Join Charlotte Mayor Pro Tem Michael Barnes, Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) General Manager of Safety & Security Leverne McElveen and Executive Director of The Relatives Brennon Graham on March 18 at 2 p.m. in the Charlotte Transportation Center, located at 310 East Trade Street, to celebrate National Safe Place Week and learn about the community partnership that is opening doors for youth in need. The winner of the Safe Place art contest will also be announced.

National Safe Place Week raises awareness about runaway and homeless youth and educates the public about solutions and ways to prevent the growing problem. The week runs March 15-21.

“CATS is proud of the partnership we have developed with The Relatives,” said McElveen.  “We are looking forward to continuing to provide a ride for youth in crisis who need a Safe Place.”

"The Relatives is fortunate to have a partner that is so committed to ensuring the safety of the youth in our community,” said Graham.  “Partnerships, like the one with CATS, enable many young people in Mecklenburg County to access the safety, stability, and successful futures that they need."
