Officials with Leon Valley and VIA Metropolitan Transit joined in a celebratory ribbon cutting to introduce customized bus shelters in that suburban city. These shelters were installed to coincide with the extension of VIA Primo bus rapid transit service into Leon Valley.
The shelters are of a new type that are being installed in the downtown area and at other locations throughout VIA’s service area. The shelters have a modular design that is readily adaptable and that provides a unifying appearance. A key feature of this design is the customizable roof that can be used to display graphic elements unique to the shelter’s location. The shelter used for the ribbon-cutting ceremony displays the logo for the City of Leon Valley.
VIA Primo service was extended into Leon Valley beginning Nov. 4. The service runs every 30 minutes from approximately 5 a.m. to 9:15 p.m. seven days a week, and it provides a direct connection to the South Texas Medical Center Transit Center. The Primo service makes stops in Leon Valley along Huebner Road, Bandera Road, Grissom Road, and Poss Road.
