Nueces County Commissioners appointed Curtis A. Rock, chief administrative officer at Rock Engineering and Testing Laboratory Inc. to the board of directors of the Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority (CCRTA) taking one of the three county-appointed seats.
Rock has served on numerous boards and commissions including the city of Corpus Christi Transportation Advisory Committee, which he chaired between 2009 and 2013. He currently serves on the city of Corpus Christi Planning Commission, as treasurer of the Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi National Alumni Board, and as chair of the Nueces County Republican Party Precinct 125. He is a graduate of Leadership Corpus Christi Class XXXIII, and served as chair of LCC Class XL.
He is a graduate of Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in management information systems.
In his request for consideration letter to the county court he stated, “I am proud to state that I was a user of public transportation when I was in high school. I rode the No. 5 along Alameda to-and-from Incarnate Word Academy...Today, as a local business owner that employs around 30 employees, I understand the importance of local public transit services to those who need to arrive to-and-from their jobs and homes.”
Rock’s two-year term will begin in October with a swearing in ceremony set for the Oct. 9, board of director’s meeting.
Re-appointed to the board by the county court were Angie Flores-Granado and Lamont Taylor.
Flores-Granado currently operates as CCRTA board secretary, serves on the operations subcommittee, and has been a board member since 2009. She chairs the CCRTA’s Governmental Relations Subcommittee and sits on the rural affairs subcommittee. She chairs the governmental affairs committee of the Corpus Christi Convention and Visitors Bureau, and as a board member on the Corpus Christi Catholic Charities. She is chief of staff for State Rep. Todd Hunter.
Taylor, re-appointed for his second two-year board term, is engaged in numerous organizations including the Corpus Christi Black Chamber of Commerce, Hillcrest Neighborhood Association, Nueces County MHMR, the city of Corpus Christi Planning Commission, and Leadership Corpus Christi. He serves on the CCRTA’s operations, rural affairs and governmental relations subcommittees. He was formerly employed by the CCRTA for 34 years.
