The Lake County Board of Commissioners appointed Mary L. Bryner, of Mentor, to the Laketran Board of Trustees and re-appointed Donna McNamee, of Willoughby, and Jean Argo, of Madison, to Laketran’s nine-member board to serve three-year terms.
“I am honored to serve such a valuable community organization, like Laketran. I have worked in the property and casualty insurance industry for over 20 years and while serving on the Mentor School Board the school’s transportation department was recognized five years consecutively for efficiency. I hope to be able to share my expertise with Laketran so they continue to make a positive impact on the community, while continuing to operate conservatively,” shares Bryner of her appointment.
Bryner joins Laketran with years of board experience. Bryner has served many executive boards including Mentor Public School Board since 2008, Insurance Women of Lake and Geauga County, and Lake County Council PTA, and Mentor Schools PTA.
“Mary will be a great addition to the Laketran Board of Trustees. She brings to us a deep wealth of knowledge serving on both non-profit and public boards; as well as her professional expertise from the insurance industry.” expressed Laketran Vice President Brian Falkowski.
McNamee, who currently chairs the board’s operation committee, has served the Laketran board since 2001, while Argo has served since 2011.
"We are happy to see both, Donna and Jean re-appointed to the board. Donna provides an elaborate history of the ADA, which keeps the board informed about federal mandates to adhere to when providing services to people with disabilities, while Jean is an expert in union and leadership management,” shared Falkowski, “Jean also has a good pulse on what the community needs because of her work at United Way, such as being proactive to the needs of the senior community,” continued Falkowski.
McNamee and Argo were sworn in at Laketran’s May board meeting, while Bryner will be sworn in at Laketran’s next public board meeting on July 29.
The Laketran Board of Trustees is responsible for the general oversight of the Lake County public transportation system, including the annual budget and fare structure. They are appointed by Lake County Commissioners to a three-year term.
