CA: Golden Empire Transit District Awards New Flyer Contract for 15 40-Foot Xcelsior Buses

New Flyer Industries Inc. announced that Golden Empire Transit District (GET) has awarded New Flyer a contract for 15 Xcelsior compressed natural gas (CNG) heavy-duty buses.

Between 2006 and 2012 New Flyer has built and delivered 70 40-foot CNG buses for GET Transit, who currently has an active fleet of 88 heavy duty buses.

“We are extremely proud to be a significant part of GET’s commitments to sustainability,” said Paul Soubry, president and CEO of New Flyer. “We’re also excited about delivering our Xcelsior model to them for the first time as this bus is aligned with GET’s mission statement delivering an accessible, reliable transit.”

The 15 buses are anticipated to begin production in the fourth quarter of 2013 and will be completely manufactured and assembled at New Flyer of America’s St. Cloud, Minnesota manufacturing facility. All buses are expected to be delivered by the first quarter of 2014.
