The inaugural TRB Outstanding Young Member Award was presented to Stephanie Camay, transportation planner, URS Corp., on January 14, 2013, as part of the Thomas B. Deen Distinguished Lecture and Presentation of Awards at the TRB’s 92nd Annual Meeting, January 13-17, 2013.
TRB’s Technical Activities Council established the TRB Outstanding Young Member Award to recognize a distinguished younger member of a TRB standing committee who has demonstrated exceptional service to TRB and achievements in transportation research, policy, or practice. The award, which is administered by the Young Members Council, consisted of a plaque and a $2,500 cash award supported by Stantec Inc.
According to Mark Norman, director, technical activities division, TRB, “Ms. Camay, in a little more than 10 years in the field of transportation and environmental planning, has amassed an impressive list of professional accomplishments in the areas of transit, pedestrian, and freight access and management. TRB’s standing committees and Cooperative Research Programs have benefited from her service and leadership in the areas of communications, social media, and transit and ferry transportation.”
More than 11,700 policy makers, administrators, practitioners, researchers and representatives of government, industry, and academic institutions attended the Transportation
Research Board (TRB) 92nd Annual Meeting, in Washington, DC, January 13-17, 2013. The
meeting, held at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park, Omni Shoreham, and Hilton
Washington hotels, included more than 4,000 presentations in 750 sessions and workshops
covering all aspects of transportation.
