Orange County residents are invited to celebrate the Lunar New Year with a free Metrolink ride to Chinatown in Los Angeles on Saturday, Jan. 28.
The first 100 guests will receive free round-trip Metrolink tickets to ring in the "Year of the Dragon" at the Golden Dragon Parade in Los Angeles' Chinatown.
"The Lunar New Year festivities are a special community holiday that OCTA is pleased to be able to participate in," said OCTA Chair Paul Glaab. "Riding Metrolink to the parade is a great way to save money and beat Los Angeles traffic, allowing passengers to arrive at the event on time and stress-free."
Tickets will be handed out beginning at 8:00 a.m. at the Irvine Station, 15215 Barranca Parkway in Irvine.
Free parking, Lion Dance, entertainment and food provided by Rubio's will be available at the station before attendees depart on the 9:25 a.m. train to Los Angeles Union station.
Upon arrival at the Los Angeles Union station, all Metrolink tickets are good for a free transfer on the Gold Line to Chinatown to view the parade.
In addition, a raffle will be held on Facebook for a chance to win six prizes including five pairs of OCLINK passes and one ducks game and ticket package. Participants earn a chance to win by completing tasks, such as attending Lunar New Year. To enter, visit www.facebook.com/ocmetrolink, and click on the "Lunar New Year Raffle" tab. Winners will be selected and notified Feb. 1.
