William A. Sorrentino Jr., P.E., PMP, DBIA, has joined STV as a vice president in the Building & Facilities Division and will head the firm's new, full-service office in Norfolk, Va. Sorrentino will be responsible for leading the division's operations in that region, and further expanding STV's presence in the federal, municipal and private sectors.
Sorrentino will report to Sam Spata, AIA, LEED AP BD&C, executive vice president of the Buildings & Facilities Division.
"I am looking forward to working with Bill on many projects for STV," Spata said. "He has had an exceptional career, and his leadership will be invaluable as we grow our operations."
Prior to joining STV, Sorrentino was the chief operating officer and the deputy district engineer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Norfolk District. As the district's senior civilian, he was responsible for the oversight of all of its programs to ensure their timely project delivery. Concurrently, he consulted for a leading authority, publisher and consultant on the effective management of architecture, engineering and construction firms.
Sorrentino has received numerous honors and awards throughout his 35-year career, including the Lifetime Achievement Award, Career Program 18 (Engineers & Scientists - Construction) from the USACE Chief of Engineers; the LTG Raymond A. Wheeler Medal from the Society of American Military Engineers; and the Meritorious Civilian Service Awards, the highest award given by the USACE Chief of Engineers.
He received his B.S. in civil engineering from the Pennsylvania State University and attended the Army Management Staff College and Federal Executive Institute. He is a registered professional engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
