A local advocacy group is calling on Halifax Transit to be more transparent about its efforts to improve preventative maintenance on its buses.

A local advocacy group is calling on Halifax Transit to be more transparent about its efforts to improve preventative maintenance on its buses.

Halifax Transit tracks the efficiency of its preventative maintenance — efforts to keep equipment in good working order so problems don’t occur — using a statistic called Mean Distance Between Failures (MDBF).

The statistic measures the distance the transit service’s 371 buses and Access-A-Buses travelled on average before breaking down.
