A 12-year legal battle between the Region of Durham and the City of Oshawa over transit liabilities is over after the city agreed to pay the region $6.2 million.
The settlement was approved last week with the financial details made public by both sides on April 19. By settling, the two sides avoided arbitration set to commence this month.
The disagreement between the two parties dates back to the amalgamation of transit services in Durham’s municipalities into Durham Region Transit (DRT) in 2006.
