Link Transit thanked riders Thursday morning after the program topped 100,000 passengers.

The transit system, which launched June 6, 2016, provides public transportation to people through Burlington, Gibsonville and other Alamance community areas. To ride the bus costs $1.

“Link Transit has realized great success for a start-up fixed-route transportation system,” Burlington Transportation Director Mike Nunn said in a press release. “Link’s ridership continues to grow; the system’s highest ridership to date was recorded in August.”

To thank the passengers, a ride appreciation event was held Thursday, Sept. 21, at the downtown transit hub at Worth Street.
