IL: Greater Peoria Mass Transit Will Use $1.42M Grant to Purchase New CityLift Vehicles

.GP Transit has received a $1.42 million grant to help replace its aging paratransit vehicles.

.GP Transit has received a $1.42 million grant to help replace its aging paratransit vehicles.

The grant from the Federal Transit Authority was approved last month. It will pay 85 percent of the cost to replace its paratransit, or CityLift, vehicles, GP Transit said in a recent news release.

The rest of the money will come from GP Transit's Capital Development Reserve Fund.

The 36 CityLift vehicles range from 6 to 8 years old. GP Transit expects to replace about two-thirds of them.
