The AFTC5 is a jointless audio frequency track circuit that interfaces between interlocking systems and trackside equipment. It transmits and receives vital rate-coded carrier signals for train detection and delivers coded speed commands while also supporting bi-directional non-vital train-to-wayside communication. Ethernet connectivity removes the need for extensive discrete wiring. Designed for efficiency, it uses three lowest-level replaceable units to help reduce spare inventory and maintenance costs. Preventive maintenance can be carried out remotely from any PC connected to the signaling network.
