MACS Transit is the Fairbanks North Star Borough's fixed route bus system. The system started in 1977, with two route serving the Fairbanks urban area. The system expanded to serve North Pole, Salcha and Farmers Loop, Fort Wainwright and other areas of the Fairbanks area. The system now operates 10 routes, and travels over 500,000 miles every year.
