CA: RTD Introduces New ADA Mobility Service Improvements
San Joaquin Regional Transit District (RTD) has introduced two Dial-A- Ride service improvements for American with Disabilities Act (ADA) certified passengers.
“Will Call” Return Pilot Program
RTD is now providing ADA certified passengers with the option of scheduling a “will call” return for medical-related trips. Medical-related trips can generate no-shows that are difficult for passengers to control. “Will Call” Return will provide passengers more scheduling flexibility, but will require a larger pickup window of 60 minutes. Passengers who choose this option must call the Dial-A-Ride Reservation Line at (209) 955-8400 to activate the return trip once they are ready for pick-up.
In-Person Eligibility Process
On October 1, Innovative Paradigms will initiate a new, in-person eligibility process to more efficiently certify and recertify RTD’s ADA passengers. The new process will no longer require paper applications or a professional healthcare verification, and eligible passengers will be able to extend their recertification period from one year to up to three years. Eligibility interviews will be used to determine the best public transit option for the passenger. Applicants can attend their interviews with family members or personal care attendants, and RTD will provide free transportation to and from the interviews.
On September 8, RTD will hold Informational Sessions on the in-person eligibility process at the Downtown Transit Center (DTC) Boardroom at 11:00 am and 6:00 pm. Light refreshments and VIP bus passes, which can be redeemed as a day pass for any of RTD’s services, will be provided to attendees. Please contact RTD’s Customer Information Center for additional information at (209) 943-1111.
