Community members can also submit their comments by completing a brief online survey about the Spencer Greenway Trail and UNLV Campus Bike Plan.
Previous regional and local planning studies such as Southern Nevada Strong identified a significant need to provide pedestrian and bicycle improvements, and other community amenities between downtown Las Vegas and UNLV. The NV Energy-owned Spencer utility corridor, which runs along Spencer Street about a half mile east of Maryland Parkway, was identified as a potential biking trail or “Greenway.”
The RTC is conducting a study to determine the level of community support and desired design elements for the Spencer Greenway Trail in the utility corridor between Charleston Boulevard and Katie Avenue. Ultimately, this trail would connect the UNLV main campus and downtown Las Vegas. In addition, the RTC is developing a UNLV Campus Bike Plan, which will identify bicycle paths and associated amenities, such as safe bicycle parking, at the UNLV main campus.
The RTC’s efforts to expand and provide safer transportation options for people on bike and on foot support Southern Nevada Strong's vision to create multi-modal interconnected streets, pathways and bikeways that increase the use of transit and other alternate modes of transportation.
