MARTA Seeks Input on Proposed Changes

Jan. 18, 2016

MARTA will hold public hearings on proposed bus service modifications on Jan. 19 and 21, to gather input from customers and stakeholders about proposed route modifications that would be implemented on April 16.  In addition, MARTA is seeking input from the public on updates to the official policy that will be used to determine possible fare changes.

Proposed changes are for the following routes: Route 9-Toney Valley/Peachcrest Road; Route 24-East Lake/Hosea Williams Drive; Route 34-Gresham Road/Clifton Springs; Route 73-Fulton Industrial; Route 86-Fairington Road/McAfee Road; Route 99-Boulevard/Monroe Drive; Route 140-North Point/Mansell Park & Ride; Route 143-Windward Park & Ride; Route 172-Sylvan Road/Virginia Avenue and Route 185-Alpharetta/ Holcomb Bridge Road.

MARTA regularly evaluates bus route performance including scheduling, on-time performance, ridership and safety.

Copies of the proposed bus service modifications are available for review at MARTA’s Office of External Affairs, 2424 Piedmont Road, N.E. Atlanta, Ga. 30324 during regular business hours, Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

A summary of the proposed bus modifications can be requested by leaving a message on MARTA’s comment line, 404.848.5299 or sending a fax to 404.848.4179. The proposed modifications will also be available for public inspection before each hearing.

In accordance mandates from the Federal Transit Administration, MARTA is in the process of updating its current fare policy, first adopted in 2013. Public comment is required before the MARTA Board of Directors can vote on a revised policy which would be used, for example, to calculate the amount of future fare changes and determine how frequently those changes would occur. No fare changes are being made at this time.
