Hakim Volunteers at Soup Kitchen

Dec. 15, 2015

As part of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s Season of Service Volunteer Effort, NJ Transit’s Executive Director Veronique “Ronnie” Hakim spent Dec. 14, serving breakfast at a local soup kitchen.

Hakim helped prepare and provide food to patrons at the Community Soup Kitchen and Outreach Center on South Street in Morristown, New Jersey.

The Season of Service is a statewide initiative where key members of Christie’s leadership team devote part of a day to serving the community.

“The governor asks his team members to take time to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our fellow New Jersey residents,’’ said Hakim. “This effort gives me a chance to step out of the office and give a helping hand to those who are in need of one. The Community Soup Kitchen and Outreach Center makes a significant contribution to the lives of those they serve in greater Morristown area and I was happy to offer some time to partake in that effort.”

In 2014, Hakim volunteered at a Boys & Girls Club in Newark, N.J.
