RTC Washoe County to Hold Food for Fare

Dec. 3, 2015

The RTC is partnering with the Food Bank of Northern Nevada for the 23rd annual Food for Fare on Thursday, Dec. 10 and Friday, Dec. 11. Instead of paying a typical fare, transit riders may instead pay their fare with a donation of a non-expired, non-perishable food item. The donations support the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, which helps more than 103,000 people in the community each month.

“One in four kids don’t know where their next meal is coming from and that’s a staggering statistic,” Jocelyn Lantrip, director marketing and communications for the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, said. “We couldn’t help these kids and families without the community’s help and this is one of the largest food drives for us of 2015,” she added.

Those not riding the bus may also contribute to the drive by simply handing a donation to any coach operator on Dec. 10 and 11.
