ABQ Ride Celebrates the Holidays with Christmas Carols

Dec. 1, 2015

Let ABQ Ride get you started in the holiday mood with an hour of caroling at the Alvarado Transportation Center at 1st and Central at noon on Dec. 3.

The Enchanted Mesa Show Chorus will entertain the lunchtime crowd with their Holiday Show featuring some of their favorite Christmas carols.

Enchanted Mesa is the local chapter of Sweet Adeline’s International; a women’s group whose four part, a capella barbershop style has won awards across the International’s Region 21, made up of California, Arizona, Texas, Nebraska and New Mexico. In fact, they’re the Region’s 2015 Division AA 3rd place chorus and the 5th place chorus overall.

They’re known for harmonizing in unaccompanied vocal music. In their words, “the melody is consistently sung by the lead, with tenor harmonizing above the melody, the bass singing the lowest harmonizing notes, and the baritone completing the chord.”

The Enchanted Mesa Show Chorus performs throughout the year for civic and charitable organizations, private groups, churches, community events, and fundraisers. Chorus member Denise King has been their director since 1991. At rehearsals, they also invite women in the Albuquerque area to join them, as well as having open auditions all year.
