JTA Issues Proclamation to Recognize Veterans
The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) issued a proclamation to recognize and honor the men and women at JTA that have served in the United States Armed Forces. 126 JTA employees with prior military service will receive a copy of the proclamation.
“Northeast Florida is a military area with a robust community of veterans,” said JTA CEO Nathaniel P. Ford, Sr. “JTA is committed to being a military friendly organization and this proclamation acknowledges a profound depth of gratitude to the dedicated individuals within our ranks.”
Northeast Florida’s strong military presence has a significant economic impact on the region that provides stability and diversity within the local community. In an effort to become more military friendly, JTA’s Human Resources modified hiring practices to recognize all United States military veterans and their spouses who are eligible for the preference, in regards to hiring for JTA positions.
Fifteen percent of JTA’s workforce is currently comprised of individuals with military service. Military personnel fulfill a variety of positions in the various departments of the organization. In addition, JTA has partnered with Home Builders Institute (HBI) on our Back-2-Work program to assist veterans with job training and placement in the transportation industry.
