Nov. 4, 2015

Denise Wallace has been appointed to the Jacksonville Transportation Authority’s (JTA) Board of Directors by Governor Rick Scott.  Wallace will replace Ed Burr who was instrumental in the hiring of the JTA’s current chief executive officer. In addition, Governor Scott reappointed JTA Chairman Scott L. McCaleb. Both Wallace and McCaleb’s terms will expire in May 2019.

Wallace is the president of BCM Services Inc. She also serves as a member of the Duval County Value Adjustment board and was previously chairwoman of the Jacksonville Housing Finance Authority and vice-chair of the Jacksonville Housing Commission. Wallace is also a 2015 JAX Chamber Small Business Leader of the Year. She and the rest of her staff at BCM take great pride in working with volunteer organizations, one of which is Big Brothers, Big Sisters. Wallace will attend her first JTA board meeting on December 10, 2015.

“We are very pleased that the governor appointed Ms. Wallace and reappointed chairman McCaleb to the board of directors.” said JTA CEO Nathaniel P. Ford, Sr. “We will miss Mr. Burr’s contributions at the Board meetings. I am grateful for his wisdom, guidance and introduction to the Jacksonville community.”

McCaleb is the president of Vulcan Land, Inc., a subsidiary of Vulcan Materials Company. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and real estate from Florida State University. McCaleb was originally appointed to the authority’s board on February 10, 2012 by Governor Rick Scott.

Ed Burr retires from the Authority’s board of directors after serving for eight years in various positions, including chair in 2012 and 2013. Burr led the Authority through the hiring of Nathaniel P. Ford Sr. as the new CEO, introduced hybrid electric buses into the fleet, launched the STAR Card electronic fare collection system and began the process of extending the Local Option Gas Tax. During his leadership, the JTA Skyway reached a one-million trip milestone.

“We are extremely grateful for Ed Burr’s commitment and dedication to the authority,” said
