CHK Wins 5-Year Contract for Fort Worth’s Passenger Information Design Services

Nov. 3, 2015

CHK America CEO, Rick Wood announced the company has been awarded a five-year contract to provide passenger Information design services for the Fort Worth Transportation Authority (The T). The ambitious project includes a re-design and maintenance of all 44 individual bus route schedules (33 fixed, 7 express, 3 special service, and 1 rider request), a complete system map, and all bus stop signage. The contract also calls for creative services for new passenger information projects.

Previously, CHK America completed the design and build for customer information and hardware for The T’s new East Lancaster Enhanced Bus Corridor (EBC) service, involving 57 stops, 38 of which included solar-powered, back-lit signage.

“This new project demonstrates Fort Worth’s continued commitment to provide the highest quality wayfinding tools for their passengers,” said Rick Wood, president and CEO of CHK America. “The new leadership at The T places a high value on effectively communicating with customers and we’re excited to be an integral part of that team.”

A key element in developing this project will be CHK America’s well-researched, “Psychology of Wayfinding” philosophy which utilizes clear and concise customer information to reduce a rider’s cognitive load, making it easier to navigate any transit system, no matter how complex. The designs utilize the company’s proprietary “8 Second Rule” to provide decision-making tools that will help first time and regular riders navigate a system with minimal confusion and stress.
