The Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority (Lynx) along with city of Orlando District 4 Commissioner Patty Sheehan, city of Orlando District 3 Commissioner Robert F. Stuart and Lynx are ready to officially light the first community-themed bus shelter in the Mills 50 Main Street district.
Lynx will build two additional shelters in the district. These customer enhancements are the first bus shelters built in the U.S. using Corian solid surfaces material.
Each shelter will be equipped with LED lighting which the agency has the ability to change complementing events in the area. Eventually the shelters will have the capability to change color as a bus approaches.
The shelters will cost $42,000 each with funding coming from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), Commissioner Sheehan’s office and the Mills Park development.
