UTA Ridership Increases on Enhanced Bus and Rail Routes

Oct. 21, 2015

Riders are taking advantage of extended hours and more frequent service on select UTA services. Preliminary data shows significant ridership increases on Trax, the S-Line and several bus routes that were improved with expanded service hours or increased frequency on Aug. 16.

All of the routes where service was increased show an increase in the number of boardings from Aug. 17 to Sept. 30, compared to the number of boardings from the same time period in 2014. Highlights include Weber County bus route 603, which saw a nearly 29 percent increase in Saturday boardings after frequency was increased from 30 to 15 minutes and service was extended by one hour on Saturday mornings and two hours on Saturday evenings. Trax recorded a nearly 14 percent increase in Sunday boardings after operating hours were extended on Sunday mornings and evenings. S-Line boardings increased by 13.3 percent after the streetcar’s service hours were extended to match those of Trax.
