AC Transit Seeks Final Input on Improvement Plans

Oct. 9, 2015

AC Transit invites the public to review and offer feedback on the District’s wide-ranging recommendations for increased reliability, more frequent service and improved connectivity.

The Service Expansion Plan (SEP) is a result of comprehensive planning efforts and extensive outreach conducted during the past year. Nearly 1,500 public comments shaped the most recent version of the SEP, and input is sought once again in advance of a Nov, 11 public hearing scheduled to finalize the plan.

“We’re continuing to move towards the community’s vision of a more reliable, convenient transit network,” stated AC Transit Board of Directors President Chris Peeples. “Listening and responding to public feedback helps us design a better AC Transit.”

The public is invited to attend one of several meetings to be held throughout the District between Oct. 13-28, where staff will be available to review anticipated improvements and answer questions. Feedback may be submitted at any of these public meetings.

A majority of the planned improvements will be funded by Measure BB, the Alameda County Transportation Commission sales tax approved by voters in 2014. AC Transit plans to invest a portion of its estimated $30 million share of annual tax revenues to expand bus service by as much as 14 percent. Complete details on the recommended improvements are available on the District’s website at actransit.org/SEP.
