HART In-Towner Free to Ride
HART is offering Downtowners the use of the In-Towner (Route 96) free of charge beginning Oct. 1. The HART Board of Directors voted to remove the 25 cent fare during its Board meeting Sept. 14.
"It's more convenient. It's less expensive than driving your car," says HART Chief Executive Officer Katharine Eagan. "It's one more option we're providing so people can easily travel Downtown while leaving behind their cars and congested parking lots. Whether it's for medical appointments, shopping, entertainment, or work, we want people to be aware that they can use public transportation to take them there."
On July 20, The In-Towner, rolled out for its debut downtown shedding the yellow exterior in favor of new vibrant colors that distinctly brand them as contemporary HART vehicles.HART rebranded the In-Town Trolley as a gateway experience and great way to travel around Downtown Tampa.
The In-Towner trolleys are the rubber-wheeled trolleys which provide weekday trips from 6-8:30 a.m. and from 3:30-6 p.m. You can conveniently ride to your destination in Downtown Tampa, but now it won't cost you anything. The In-Towner helps locals get back and forth to work, school, and home, while transporting tourists to key sites and shopping districts.
