John Fisher has been appointed the San Francisco area manager for WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff.
In his new position, Fisher is responsible for leading the firm’s transportation and infrastructure operations in the San Francisco Bay Area, including business development and marketing, client relationship management and project performance. Some of WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff’s projects in the Bay Area include Presidio Parkway, which recently opened to traffic and for which Fisher serves as the firm’s project manager, the new east span of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, and the San Francisco Central Subway.
Fisher has 18 years of public policy, legislative/funding, project/staff management, and community and inter-governmental relations experience on the local, state and federal levels. Since joining WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff in 2008, he has led efforts to develop an alternative procurement practice in the Bay Area and California. He has worked to develop the firm’s managed lanes practice in the Bay Area and has advised the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) on the development of a regional Express Lanes network, including alternative procurement strategies and development of a governance structure. Since October of 2014, he has served as the local project operations manager for the San Francisco office, supporting the office and region’s financial goals through improved project performance.
Prior to joining WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, Fisher was manager of government and community relations at the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District. He developed strategies for shaping regulatory policies on transit security and other issues impacting transit operations and also worked in Washington, D.C. as a lobbyist and legislative director to a member of Congress, advancing key priorities for California transportation and infrastructure.
