Rabbittransit Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

Rabbittransit will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month taking place from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15. The authority will be promoting its new resources available to Spanish-speaking individuals including:

  • Inclusion of a translation tool on rabbittransit’s website to convert to Spanish with    Google Translate
  • Increase in the number of staff who speak Spanish at the rabbittransit Call Center
  • Free Travel Training available with staff who speak Spanish to ride Fixed Route or  Paratransit with individuals
  • Available staff to offer educational presentations in Spanish at local organizations
  • Conversion of  Paratransit/Shared Ride applications to Spanish
  • Conversion of  Paratransit/Shared guide to Spanish

Rabbittransit also recently became a member of the York County Hispanic Coalition in the spring of this year. According to rabbittransit’s 2014 Fixed Route Survey, 11 percent of riders identified themselves as part of a Hispanic demographic.

“More than 10 percent of our ridership is significant and we want to offer tools to enhance the experience for all of our riders,” comments Richard Farr, rabbittransit executive director.
