Seeing Eye Puppies Travel to York Fair on Transit

Sept. 11, 2015

On Sept. 15, rabbittransit will not only be servicing people, but puppies. For the past several years, the Loving Eyes 4-H Seeing Eye Puppy Club has made rabbittransit one of its main destinations. In 2015, the puppies are headed to the York Fair which is celebrating its 250th anniversary. Club members will board the Route 1W bus to access the fairgrounds along the route.

According to event coordinator Deb Oerman, one of the goals of the Puppy Club is for the dogs “to have the experience of public transportation.” The customers they will ultimately serve are visually impaired and rely heavily on transit.

Approximately 25 people, a combination of youth and adults, and 8 puppies will participate in tthe 2015 event.

“We’re delighted to be able to support this initiative. We realize this effort benefits future riders by offering the visually impaired community options for mobility and independence,” comments rabbittransit Executive Director Richard Farr.
