The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) reminds transit riders to beat the heat during the hot summer months by following three simple tips:
- Travel with plenty of water and use a spill-proof container on buses;
- Minimize heat exposure: arrive at your stop no more than 10 minutes before your bus’ scheduled stop time;
- Protect your skin: seek shade at the bus stop, wear a hat, use an umbrella and wear sunscreen.
These tips are especially important for young children and seniors, who may be more vulnerable to the effects of intense heat. The RTC is promoting its safety message throughout the summer months on social media and through public service announcements.
