Via Metropolitan Transit has entered into an agreement with the city of Leon Valley to contribute $150,000 for improvements along Evers Road as part of the Via Suburban Cities Program.
In August 2014, Via received a one-time award of $2 million from the Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization to help fund improvements along roadways served by Via bus routes in suburban municipalities. At its May 26 meeting, the Via Board of Trustees approved an arrangement with Leon Valley to provide funding for 13 concrete bus pads to be installed as part of an improvement project for Evers Road from Forest Dell to Huebner Road.
“We are excited to collaborate with Leon Valley and provide transportation solutions for our customers,” said Via President/CEO Jeff Arndt. “This funding will provide transit-related improvements that will enhance our bus stops and help extend the life of the resurfaced roadway.”
