The Countdown has begun to Aug. 16.
Metro announced in just 100 days customers will enjoy simpler, more frequent routes; better connections to buses and light-rail; and high-tech tools, offering next bus arrival via text messages. Metro's New Bus Network is also doing something unprecedented for the agency and the region, connecting one million people to one million jobs.
"Our customers will know they can rely on transit to live work and play." said Metro Chairman Gilbert Garcia. "It takes courage to step up and say 'we've got to do something to increase ridership', and then it takes courage to do it."
"Let's take a blank slate and serve Houston the way it is today," said Metro Board Member Christof Spieler.
