From Feb. 23 through March 1, all University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) students, faculty and staff will be able to ride Mountain Metropolitan Transit fixed-route buses for free.
UCCS and Mountain Metro have teamed up to provide students, faculty and staff free public transportation for one week to introduce newcomers to the local bus system and highlight how affordable, convenient and sustainable taking the bus can be. Numerous outings have been prearranged with university groups and local business, Poor Richards, is offering a 10 percent discount at all four of its businesses to UCCS riders for the entire week.
“This is a great way for Mountain Metro and UCCS to introduce local bus service to one of our community’s most important assets, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs”, commented Craig Blewitt, director Mountain Metropolitan Transit. “We hope this event will culminate in more UCCS folks accessing their local bus system to get to school, downtown, shopping and local attractions using a more economical, sustainable form of transportation.”
